Theatre
The theatre section holds both halves of what theatre means in this city: productions shown on a stage, and pieces played in the street, in courtyards and squares, for an audience that gathers where it stands.
Wroclaw carries a particular weight in this field. It has been a centre of experimental theatre for decades, and the festival programme is put together with that history in view — which is why street and open-air work is treated as fully part of the section, not as an appendix to it.
Outdoor performances are free and depend on the weather; where a piece has to be moved indoors, the change is published as an announcement rather than left to chance.
Productions shown at the theatres themselves are usually ticketed. Which are which is marked in the programme, day by day.
