Independent Wroclaw Day 1

Independent Wroclaw is a strand inside the festival given over to the city's independent scene — groups and projects that work outside the large institutions, without permanent stages or budgets. Day 1 opens it.

The strand exists because that part of the city's cultural life is otherwise hard to see. Independent groups play irregularly, in clubs and improvised spaces, and a festival slot puts them in front of an audience that would not go looking for them.

The opening day sets the tone for what follows: several acts one after another rather than a single headline, with short breaks in between, so that an audience can stay for the whole evening and hear the range of what is being made in the city.
